Research

What is a weather station?

A weather station is a system of instruments that collect and measure atmospheric conditions. The station in the picture to the right measure's air pressure, temperature, rain drop, soil and air humidity. If you want to make that station, this is where to getting the Instructions to do so.

Before diving into this project I'll want to do my research so I can understand how a weather station works and what exactly I'll be needing.

For this project, I'll want to research Arduino's, the measurement sensors, and the coding I'll need to do.

Things I'll be using:

Arduino Uno Rev3

SparkFun Atmospheric Sensor Breakout - BME280

Photocell

Breadboard

Jumper Wire

As it says on the side ---->

I can use an enclosure of my choice... and I choose legos.

Why legos you may ask?

I can build it myself, AND it's free.

My Modifications

I don't want to make this weather station - I want to make a station that can communicate current weather conditions using different colored lights. I want to be able to tell the relative temperature, humidity, light and atmospheric pressure by either a Red Green or Blue light.

I want to have a portable weather station that can tell me how much sun an area is getting, what the temperature and humidity is, and if there is any change in the atmospheric pressure that could indicate an approaching storm.
